Next-Gen Biosensors Poster at ESA 2024

Dr. Christopher Ranger presented this poster at the 2024 Entomological Society of America annual conference, sharing findings about the efficacy and speed of net-gen biosensing in identifying at-risk trees. Ambrosia beetles are attracted to ethanol emitted from stressed trees. Ongoing research among collaborators at the University of Georgia, Tennessee State University, and USDA-ARS is evaluating portable devices to detect ethanol emission in near real-time to identify trees vulnerable to infestation by ambrosia beetles.

Dr. Ranger is a Research Entomologist for the USDA-Agricultural Research Service.
